Slowly Drowning won 2nd place in the Female First International poetry contest.
He was trapped there in the bottom of a bottle
Running on empty and careering at full throttle
She hid behind the emptiness of a fist filled with tiny pills
Thinking they could dampen life’s constant shrieks and shrills
We live in a world filled with people trying to suppress the pain
Helplessly waiting for sunshine but slowly drowning in the rain
Slowly Drowning is included with several of my other poems in my new poetry book, My Words into the Beyond.
