As the first of fall day came and went,
I admired the clear blue sky God sent
The day was a perfect, gentle reminder
That these days are always so much kinder
Greens will soon change to orange and reds
Our precious flowers will return to their beds
Even the very air seems to hold its breath
Waiting on winter’s cold and snowy death
