Once upon a sweeter and gentler time
When life ticked in perfect and flawless rhyme
Dads come home from work each and every day
Mothers kissed boos boos after play went astray
Neighborhoods were filled with the sounds of laughter
Children had so many heroes they followed after
Now there’s not one single hero anywhere in sight
The line is blurred between what is wrong and right
Accurate rhyme has run completely out of beat and time
And perfection only survives in a child’s nursery rhyme
