Just a Moment
I tried covering my wounds and gashes
With layers and layers of smoldering ashes
But someone kept prodding, poking and prying
Too busy to notice my misery during all of their spying
A refusal to acknowledge I was hiding from life’s riot
And all I really wanted was a moment of peace and quiet
