Regina Puckett
The day was offered but I wanted to turn it away
I thought that just for once I couldn’t face another day
But there it was staring me in the face with expectation
A beautiful gift, a way to start over, a wonderful creation
So I threw off the covers and did my best not to grumble
For this offering I knew I should be grateful and humble
Because one day that beautiful gift won’t be mine for the giving
It will belong to those who are still here among the living
